Title: "Where Your Destination Is"
Genre: Poetry
Status: complete
Author's Note: The poem I originally wrote was inspired by a phenomenal road trip with friends and the inevitable 'let down' that occurred when we all returned to our "normal" separate lives. Revisions have dramatically changed the tone and feel of the original (translation: I axed the angst).
“Where Your
Destination Is”
Sometimes…
You discover
that the shortest road to what you seek
becomes the
longest journey home,
especially
when you don’t know
where your destination is.
Sometimes…
you get lost
to whims and dreams,
crossing borders between doubt and fear
convincing
yourself you can’t go
where your destination is.
Sometimes…
You believe
the roadmap drawn by others
should show the clear and easy path
but it must be your experience that takes you
where your destination is.
